Last breaths of this yearning
I hope I’ve finally cut its throat
The blade was never sharp enough before
I hear a choke.

Eyes close down over rural avenues,
Radios fade into the night
The long lone call echoes with a flash,
Never finding shelter from its own life.
Lonely is the bearer of bad news.

These words are lies told on plastic,
So I wouldn’t trust me.
Empty phone calls warm no hearts,
19 brings a fucking tease
The broken radio plays more static.

Dead bark hangs on too loosely,
And it gives way to the wind.
Howling heads will solve these ills,
Teach us how to fend.
The lesson learned perversely.

Jokes are never quite as funny,
Not told second hand.
The jester still holds the cards,
Yelling his demand,
“Kill those who don’t adore me”
